Parents

Los Gatos Parent Nursery School is run by parents who volunteer their time, both inside the classroom and out, in order to maintain the school’s well-earned reputation as an environment in which children learn and thrive.

The ability of LGPNS to fulfill its important mission and remain the special place it is for our children depends upon parents’ active involvement. The five aspects of adult participation at LGPNS are described below.

Parental Participation

  • Be On-Site Weekly
Participation in the classroom one day per week per child enrolled.
  • Take Night Classes
Attendance at 5 total monthly night classes offered by LGPNS. Over the course of the school year, the adult education program offers a variety of speakers focusing on child development and helpful parenting skills. Past topics have included everything from “Raising Resilient Children” to “Turning No into Yes and Encouraging Cooperative Behavior” and “Kindergarten Readiness”.
*Parents of T2s students need only attend 4 classes during the year.
  • Join a Committee
Active participation on an assigned school committee.
  • Fundraise
Participation in school fundraising activities and community outreach events. Each family is required to buy/sell $100 in raffle tickets prior to the main spring fundraising event.
  • Help with Maintenance
Participation in two 3-hour maintenance days per year to help keep the school facilities clean, current and safe. Parents of T2s students need only attend one maintenance day per year.
