Our Parents

Los Gatos Parent Nursery School is run by parents who volunteer their time, both inside the classroom and out, in order to maintain the school’s well-earned reputation as an environment in which children learn and thrive.

The ability of LGPNS to fulfill its important mission and remain the special place it is for our children depends upon parents’ active involvement. The key aspects of adult participation at LGPNS are described below.

Parent Participation

  • Be On-Site Weekly
Participation in the classroom one workday per week, per child enrolled. Exceptions: Friday Frolics workdays are bi-monthly or less, and the Pre-K class may have additional “floating” workdays.

  • Join a Committee
Active participation on an assigned school committee with the exception of Terrific Toddlers parents.

  • Fundraising & Events
Participation in school fundraising activities and community outreach events. For example: distribute flyers, work event shifts, sell raffle tickets and attend fundraisers.

  • Help with Maintenance
Participation in two 3-hour maintenance days per year to help keep the school facilities clean, current, and safe. Exception: Parents of Terrific Toddlers students need only complete one 3-hour maintenance day.

  • Parent Support
Attendance is required at two teacher-hosted class meetings. Exception: The Terrific Toddlers class does not have class meetings. Attendance is highly encouraged at LGPNS-hosted parent education night classes.

  • Miscellaneous
A Spring Semester Fee of $200 per child is charged in January. This fee helps fund the yearbook, school events, capital improvements and scholarships.
